Meltin Vinyl Present

Beirut

Winter Garden - Floral Hall

Friday 27 August 2010

On Sale Wednesday 28 April, 10am

After the widely acclaimed 2007 album The Flying Club Cup, which hit many album of the year lists including the NME, Uncut, Q and The Telegraph, the extremely talented young songwriter and musician Zach Condon, backed by his ever evolving and diverse band of artitsts, returns with a third record under the guise of Beirut.

Inspired by Balkan folk-pop, French chanteuse, Mexican troubadour, '80s synth pop, and '90s house, the common thread that unites Beirut's epic sound is one of Zach's ability to combine the melodies in his distinct way, a delicate talent which has captured the hearts of so many across the globe.

The Group's latest release, March of the Zapotec, marks the continuing emergence of a musician who has only shown an inkling of where he is headed. And while the road may be long, every stop along the way is filled with its own treats.

Beirut's rare live performances are very special affairs indeed, featuring a sprawling troupe of expert multi-instrumentalists fronted by Zach, wielding accordions, trumpets, trombone, maracas, mandolins, ukuleles, bass guitar and double bass in a swirling concoction that manages to be both rambunctiously exuberant and beguilingly emotive.

With shows on their last UK visits selling out in a matter of minutes, this exclusive live performance is not to be missed!

“So magnificently moving that the only correct response is a standing ovation” The Guardian

“A thing of simple, mesmerizing beauty” Uncut
