What are Eastbourne Theatres Productions?
Eastbourne Theatres produces the Devonshire Park Theatre Summer Show and Christmas Pantomime.
These shows are not amateur productions; they are professionally directed, choreographed and of course performed.
The many stars who have appeared in shows include; Olivier Award winning actor David Bradley, Niamh Perry, Sara Crowe, Stephen Mulhern, Ian ‘H’ Watkins, Sue Holderness, John Chalice, Steven Pinder, Jeffrey Holland, Linda Robson, Bonnie Langford and more.
A huge amount of work goes into the productions, sets and costumes are specifically designed and made for the shows. The talented in-house team make many props – from a full scale Dr Who Tardis to transforming the Devonshire Park foyer into a fairytale castle.
Why does Eastbourne Theatres produce their own shows?
Summer in the theatre industry is a notoriously difficult time to find quality touring product – and with the busy tourist season it is vitally important that Eastbourne has appealing shows on offer.
In 2001, it was decided that the Theatres should start to produce their own professional shows to ensure that quality product was available to summer theatre audiences - and so Eastbourne Theatre Productions was born.
After the success of the summer productions it was also felt that Eastbourne would benefit massively from also producing the pantomime ‘in-house’, taking the notion of ‘panto’ back to its roots and giving audiences a well written, directed and performed piece of theatre magic!
Eastbourne Theatres take great pride in their pantomimes and are thrilled that thousands and thousands of you agree with year on year box office breaking figures.
