The Music Of Friends

Sunday 10 February 2019

Devonshire Park Theatre

Mozart Oboe Quartet
Beethoven String Quartet Op. 18 No.1
Brahms Clarinet Quintet

Soloists of the London Philharmonic Orchestra

When the 25-year old Mozart met the famous oboist Ramm, his mother worried that he might be a bad influence! But Wolfgang was having too much fun to care, and you can hear the results in his delightful Oboe Quartet. Brahms, meanwhile, was in retirement when he met the clarinettist of his dreams; his glorious Clarinet Quintet interrupts a golden autumn afternoon with a passionate gypsy lament. As Beethoven once said, it’s music that speaks from the heart, to the heart, and Romeo and Juliet inspired his own Quartet Op.18 No.1. Music doesn’t get any lovelier – or more personal.
