London Philharmonic Orchestra - November 2018

Heaven And Earth

Sunday 11 November 2018

Devonshire Park Theatre

Dvorak Serenade in d minor, Op.44
Mozart Wind Serenade No. 10 (Gran Partita)

Soloists of the London Philharmonic Orchestra

“It started simply enough, like a rusty squeezebox…and then suddenly high above it, sounded a single note on the oboe”. Remember that great scene from Peter Shaffer’s Amadeus? When Salieri hears Mozart’s Gran Partita, he thinks he’s hearing the voice of God. Tonight, a hand-picked team of LPO woodwind players take the same path to heaven, in music that sings, dances, and goes straight to your heart. First, though, they head to the Czech countryside for something altogether different and utterly delicious – the irresistible Wind Serenade by Antonin Dvorak, who grew up in his uncle’s butcher’s shop but never took his eyes off the stars.
