New Cinema Experience Launches

The doors of the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne, the largest venue in East Sussex, will open once again from this October to offer audiences the opportunity to experience the space in a totally new way; fully covid compliant, the venue will transform to create a safe cinema experience this October Half Term with the launch of Congress MOVIE Theatre!

The programme of especially curated movies features half-term treats A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, (2pm and 6pm, Wednesday 28 October) and Disney’s 2019 film Aladdin (2pm and 6pm, Thursday 29 October). On Halloween the fun for families continues with Hotel Transylvania (11am) and Hocus Pocus (2pm) but it’s strictly over 18’s only for Hellraiser (7.45pm) - all showing on Saturday 31 October.

Whilst trick or treating in the traditional way might be off the cards for families this year the Congress MOVIE Theatre will offer a safe alternative with family friendly spooky films, plus cult classic chiller for the adults in the evening. Little (and big) ones are encouraged to dress up-in their Halloween fancy dress!

The evening film for the adults will have a distinctly eerie feel, with the backstage crew at the Congress having fun with lighting and effects to ensure that the Halloween experience extends from beyond the screen.

With the DQ Terrace Bar and Café which adjoins the Congress Theatre and the Stage Door pub a mere pumpkin’s throw away offering a range of Halloween themed drinks with food available your Halloween celebrations are taken care of whatever the weather.

As audiences are welcomed back to this hub of entertainment, safety for everyone is paramount and the Congress Theatre offers a safe space which will be thoroughly cleaned after each performance, one-way systems and multiple entrances/exits allow secure access to this recently refurbished venue with large open plan communal areas. The theatre is operating a restricted seating plan to ensure everyone’s safety all systems are in place to ensure the safe running of this venue.
